Our hammer tips are custom made Rhodes piano hammer tips. All Rhodes Piano hammer tips wear out at some point, they become grooved or harden so much that they loose the original sound. The harder the tips become the more pronounced the mallet sounding attack becomes, almost like a click. The deeper the grooves on a hammer tip the worde the strike point is. it creates a a dull sound. This is why it is important to replace hammer tips at the appropriate time in the pianos life. Only you can decide if the time is right.
