Repair + Restoration

A quarter century of experience has made us electric piano alchemists.

Masters of our craft

When it comes to vintage electric pianos, we don't mind a challenge. Whether it's a custom electric piano project, a standard repair, or a complete restoration, there's nothing our team of master technicians can't handle. Our work is unlike any others you will find. While an exotic exterior can be enticing, we specialize in mechanical geometry and blueprinting; like an architect or surgeon, details matter. This attention to the action and parts quality is the difference between a piano that looks good and a piano, unlike anything you have ever played before.

Restorations

From Rare Models to Coveted Classics, We Can Reinvent Your Piano

Fender Rhodes Wurlitzer Clavinet Organs Amps

At Vintage Vibe, we believe in the classic aesthetic. Anyone can pose a piano in fancy colors; at Vintage Vibe, we take a more serious approach and strive for museum-quality craftsmanship, something we call our Signature Series Restorations. Beyond the aesthetic, we take mechanical and electronic restorations to a level not found anywhere else. Utilizing our proprietary modifications and advanced action innovations, our restored pianos feel and sound like no others.

Wurlitzer Electric Pianos are our specialty. Before Vintage Vibe became known for our groundbreaking Rhodes work, we specialized in Wurlitzer repair and restoration. Today our master technicians Adam Kaniper, Fred Dileone, and Chris Carroll, have a combined 65  years of experience repairing and restoring vintage Wurlitzer's. Equally comfortable with all models from the early tube model 112 to the later 200A, we strive for perfection with every restoration. In addition, we manufacture our own full line of parts, including reeds, hammer tips, speakers, and amplifiers, which allows us, along with our deep knowledge, to take each piano to its pinnacle.

Vintage Vibe loves to restore Hohner Clavinets and make them super funky! So we have designed our own modified Clavinet called the Vibanet™, used by some of the funkiest and famous people on earth. From our world-class Vibanet™ preamplifier to our innovative proprietary Clavigel™ dampening system to our custom-designed strings, our master techs will change the game on your Clavinet!

Vintage Vibe has been restoring Vox and Farfisa organs for over 20 years. But, let's face it, they are not fun to work on. Even just looking at them cross-eyed causes them to act finicky. This does not stop us from taking them on, though. Over the years, we have learned proper techniques to stabilize and ensure the best results from an inherently unstable instrument.

Everyone knows Vintage Vibe as a keyboard company, but what you may not know is that our techs are experts in classic Tube Amp repairs, tolex, and grill cloth restorations. With over 70 years combined experience in all vintage classic amplifiers. Last but not least, our master tech Adam is also a luthier and handles all guitar setups and repairs, from simple repairs to extensive restorations.

Repair via shipping

Over the past several years there has been a large amount of interest from customers residing outside of driving distance from our NJ shop in having us repair or restore their instruments. Return shipping costs have often been seen as discouraging to these customers and we certainly understand that. After servicing or restoring an instrument via shipping it is extremely important to us that the customer receives the instrument in the same condition as when we performed our final tests and cleaning.

To ensure this we carefully package the instrument in a sturdy box and strap it to a pallet; this maintains the orientation of the instrument during transit, safeguarding against it being placed top side down, falling over, being dropped, etc. This method of shipping comes at an increased cost, but we believe it is well worth it to protect the integrity of our workmanship and our customer’s investment. We also believe that geography shouldn’t be a barrier between our restoration services and all the players out there who want their pianos to be the absolute best they can be. With that in mind we have decided to offer a return shipping credit on restoration services!

For repairs of $2500.00 (before tax and shipping) or greater we will provide a $425.00 credit toward return shipping made by our standard service to addresses in the continental US.*

*That’s it, no additional fine print

To give an idea of how that might help you, let’s take a look at some return shipping costs. The following chart displays average shipping costs of a single stage piano (add $100 for each additional piano or suitcase cabinet) to a choice of two destination types; Service Center and Residential. A service center destination is pre-established by the carrier and is normally located at or near a major airport. If choosing service center delivery, you would need to travel to and retrieve the package from the service center. A residential destination is a home. If choosing residential delivery, the package is delivered to the curb on the pallet. There is no further assistance from the driver.

Region Destination
Service Center Residential
Northeast $425 $800
Southeast $450 $825
Midwest $450 $825
Intermountain $500 $925
Northwest $500 $875
Southwest $400 $775

As you can see the shipping credit will cover most if not all cost when shipping to a Service Center and about half of the residential rate. We are very excited to be offering this new program and hope to help many more customers finally have their instruments play as they have always hoped!

I’m floored with how much care and nicely you got this piano sounding and the action feels heavenly. I’m so grateful to be a vintage vibe customer.

After 5 shows I am completely blown away with this instrument. For so long I never really felt a deep connection when I played vintage tine style pianos—no longer! This bad boy feels so responsive under the fingers and the bell like tone is gorgeous. Can't wait to get back out and rip it this weekend in Shwazeyyy and New Haven with Goose! Thank you Vintage Vibe <3
